‘Waiting on Wednesday’ was started by ‘Breaking the Spine’ and spotlights those not-yet-released books that I just can’t wait to read! Without further ado, here is this week’s ‘Waiting on Wednesday’.
Title: The Forbidden Wish
Author: Jessica Khoury
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Publication Date: February 23rd 2016
She is the most powerful Jinni of all. He is a boy from the streets. Their love will shake the world…
When Aladdin discovers Zahra’s jinni lamp, Zahra is thrust back into a world she hasn’t seen in hundreds of years — a world where magic is forbidden and Zahra’s very existence is illegal. She must disguise herself to stay alive, using ancient shape-shifting magic, until her new master has selected his three wishes.
But when the King of the Jinn offers Zahra a chance to be free of her lamp forever, she seizes the opportunity—only to discover she is falling in love with Aladdin. When saving herself means betraying him, Zahra must decide once and for all: is winning her freedom worth losing her heart?
As time unravels and her enemies close in, Zahra finds herself suspended between danger and desire in this dazzling retelling of Aladdin from acclaimed author Jessica Khoury.
Oooh, this looks interesting. A real twist on Aladdin’s story, huh? I’d love to read a book with an Arab-inspired setting! I’m also pumped up for The Forbidden Wish because:
Eeep! Recommended by one of my favourite authors – I have to read this one. In case you’re wondering why the theme of the graphic/image above is different, The Forbidden Wish initially had a different cover, but Jessica Khoury and her publisher felt something was missing, and thus a new cover was designed. If you’d like to have a look at the old cover …
… there you go! What do you think? I actually like the old cover more- it’s got such pretty colours! But hey, it’s what’s between the covers that matters at the end.
Lastly, here’s Jessica Khoury’s Pinterest page for The Forbidden Wish.
And that’s it! Well, what do you think? Are you looking forward to this book as well? Which cover do you like better? Let me know and have a wonderful Wednesday!
